4th of July in Juneau

Juneau’s Fourth of July celebrations are quickly approaching and the city is preparing with a full lineup of exciting events. The festivities begin the night before on July 3rd with the annual fireworks show starting at midnight, with a beautiful display over the Gastineau Channel. Great viewing spots include the downtown waterfront or the Douglas Island shores. On July 4th, the day kicks off at 11:00 AM with the downtown Juneau parade, beginning at 9th Street and Egan Drive. This year’s theme is “Juneau’s Winged Heroes,” which celebrates the community’s “winged-heroes” like first responders, pilots, postal carriers, and more that allow the town to thrive. Later in the afternoon, Douglas Island hosts its own festive parade at 2:00 PM as the route runs from 3rd & I Street to Savikko Park Road. Immediately following the Douglas parade, be sure to stick around for the entertaining firefighter hose races where local fire crews compete in good-natured challenges. Whether you are a visitor or a long-time local, keep an eye out for any updates or changes to the city’s schedule of events in the days ahead!
